  • Rosalina

Rosalina Moreira is a kindergarten teacher's assistant on the south side of Lisbon. Coming from a disenfranchised environment, she overcame adversity and enrolled in a teaching certificate program. These photographs were taken over a semester, following Rosalina from home to work, and about. Her husband, António, is a computer technician and they cannot have children. I am interested in how the act of photographing can establish an unwritten contract between parties, enabling a common, shared experience. The process of picture taking is, however, simultaneously self-effacing, transparent, and, ultimately, unnecessary. I felt privileged for the access I was granted and the friend I made.
